Woman mugged at knifepoint in Douglas – 3FM

Police are appealing for information after a woman was mugged in Douglas in the early hours of the morning.

Officers say they believe at around 1am on the Promenade near Broadway a man followed a lone woman who was walking. 

She was heading from the Glen Falcon Gardens and wasn’t far from the Castle Mona Avenue junction when the man walked in front of her, shown her what is believed to be a knife, and demanded her purse.

However, the woman was physically uninjured during the incident.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the incident or anyone with any information that may assist them to identify the suspect to come forward.

The man responsible has been described as white, in between mid teens – 30 years old, slim and English speaking.

 He was wearing a black coat, leather gloves and had a black scarf over his mouth and nose.

Police added this type of crime is rare on the Island and every effort is being made to catch the person responsible.
