Manx health officials are insisting the risk posed by a tick-borne disease that can damage the brain is low.

Public Health Isle of Man has commented after the first British cases of Tick-Borne Encephalitis (TCE) were confirmed in the South of England.

The organisation took to social media saying the illness is rare and is directing people to advice on routine tick awareness which applies to the Isle of Man.

The information is available at www.gov.im/ticks.
