A Ballasalla teenager’s been banned from the roads after breaking a woman’s breastbone when he reversed into her car.
Thomas Roberts of Bayrauyr Road appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse, when he admitted causing serious bodily harm by driving without due care and attention.
Prosecutor Barry Swain told the hearing Roberts, an R-plate driver, reversed into the Ford KA in his Ford Fiesta on December 6 last year.
The 17 year old went to Battery Pier in Douglas and at about 8.30pm was driving away when he spotted a friend: he stopped and reversed, driving into the other car.
Magistrates fined him £1,250 and ordered him to pay £50 costs as well as banning him from driving for 12 months and until he passes an extended driving test.
