A trial to test the installing of fixed speed cameras on the Island is being considered by the Department of Infrastructure.

That’s according to Infrastructure Minister, Tim Baker MHK, in written response to a Tynwald question on the subject this week from Arbory, Castletown & Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse.

Mr Baker says, however, no specific locations have been picked out as a potential trial site yet.

He adds the department will work with partner agencies in the Island’s Road Safety Partnership to make sure any cameras which are put out are in places where they’ll give a ‘clear and meaningful benefit’ to safety on Manx roads.
