About the role

Are you a Pharmacist with a special interest in mental health?

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Pharmacy Department at Noble’s Hospital, to contribute to medicines optimisation and patient safety in the area of Acute Mental Health Services. Our MHS teams include: Adult Psychiatry, Old Age Psychiatry, CAMHS, Learning Disabilities, Neuropsychiatry and substance misuse.

You will provide a ward-based clinical pharmacy service to acute Mental Health Services, as well as clinical service (e.g. prescription screening in the Pharmacy). You will be involved in all aspects of the departmental activity, including both on-call and working on a Saturday (rota basis) to ensure the continuity of professional service is maintained.

What can this role offer me?

At Noble’s Hospital, you can also step away from UK NHS pressures and demands, as the Island’s NHS is separate to the UK, but still free at the point of contact.

You will spend roughly half your time on the mental health wards and roughly half your time in the Pharmacy. You will also have the opportunity to support wider clinical pharmacy work within Noble’s Hospital, allowing you to gain hospital experience and knowledge in areas outside of mental health.

Day to day you will be responsible for a wide variety of duties, these will include:

  • Prescriptions
  • Blood monitoring
  • Supporting patients with drug history
  • Reviewing medicine charts
  • Medication reconciliation
  • Working with technicians
  • Taking part in consultant ward rounds
  • Working on patient treatment/discharge plans
  • Contributing to the development of mental health services on the Island

This role will allow you to make a big contribution to mental health services with patient safety and medicine optimisation. Each day you will face new challenges, and you will need to be flexible and decisive to achieve success in this role.

You’ll also be able to take advantage of the excellent opportunities we provide for personal and professional development. This includes use of our on-site education and training centre and the fantastic range of courses we support.

You’ll receive a competitive salary with incremental pay progression and excellent holiday entitlement. To find out about the other benefits you could enjoy, download our benefits leaflet!
