Rules around importing horses to the Island are being changed.

The government says any animal fully vaccinated equine flu now don’t need to be isolated on arrival but those which aren’t will need to be isolated for two weeks.

Last year restrictions were introduced following an outbreak of the virus in the UK but Manx officials say the number of cases has reduced significantly since then and now there are no recorded incidents on the Isle of Man.

The infection can cause horses to suffer with coughing, runny noses and feeling run-down – anyone who needs to know about their animals’ vaccine status are asked to contact their vet.
