Police are warning the public over scam letters which are circulating across the Island.

Authorities say the bogus message claims it wants the potential victim to help manage a Japanese investment portfolio and requests a copy of a draft application and a private telephone number to get in touch on.

However, the constabulary is reminding residents – following several reports about the matter – to never give personal details to anybody over an e-mail, the phone or in a letter unless you know exactly who you’re dealing with.

Officers add legitimate companies will never ask you for personal details up front to confirm your identity.
