Man jailed for six weeks for going to McDonald’s and breaking Covid rules on the Isle of Man – The Sun
A MAN has been jailed for six weeks for going to McDonald’s with pals and breaking coronavirus rules.
Jake Waring, 20, admitted to failing to comply with self-isolation rules on the Isle of Man.

The Isle of Man’s current restrictions require travellers to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.
Waring, who has family in Birkenhead and the Isle of Man, was granted an exemption certificate to visit the island as a returning resident, Douglas Courthouse heard.
When he arrived at the ferry terminal on Friday, he was made away by port staff of the self-isolation rules.
Waring was also given a written direction notice and a family member warned him about going out.
Two days later, Waring left his accommodation to meet up with pals and went to a McDonald’s. They then visited a petrol station.
He was reported to police by a member of the public.
Waring’s defence argued he “forgot” to self-isolate and thought the island’s rules were the same as those in Liverpool.
The prosecution said there was “no doubt “that he had a “full understanding” of the island’s Covid-19 rules.
Waring was sentenced to six weeks in prison at Douglas Courthouse.
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said people on the island were “extremely lucky” to have the current freedoms they do and that was down to the “strict rules” imposed on new arrivals.
She said Waring’s actions had “posed a very real risk” to those he had come into contact with and the sentence would send a “clear message” that anyone breaking the law would face jail, she added.
It is not the first time people have been jailed for breaching the quarantine rules on the Isle of Man.

Earlier this month, five welders from Doncaster were jailed for breaking coronavirus rules on the Isle of Man by buying lunch in Tesco.
In September, a 36-year-old woman was jailed after stopping to buy petrol on the Isle of Man when she got off the ferry.
Earlier this year, a man pleaded guilty to failing to self-isolate and was sentenced to four weeks in prison on the Isle of Man.
Isle of Man coronavirus laws
Lockdown rules on the Isle of Man are set independently, and are more strict than the rest of the UK.
Anyone travelling to the Isle of Man must self-isolate for two weeks.
Before arrival they must complete a Landing Form with details of where they will be staying for the self-isolation period.
They must go straight to where they are staying and are not allowed to use public transport.
Failure to self-isolate can include up to 3 months imprisonment and or a fine up to £10,000.
