Isle of Man TT legend killed in ‘world’s most dangerous event’ – Daily Star

Isle of Man TT biker Chris Swallow has been killed racing in what is known as the most dangerous event in TT.

Chris, 37, had been competing at the famous Isle of Man motorcycle event since 2007 and lost control of his bike at the Ballaugh Bridge section of the course on Saturday.

His dad Bill, a race legend, was also reportedly competing in the same race.

Chris, who was born in the UK and was living in New Zealand since 2010, has regularly competed in the Classic TT races since making his debut in 2007 Manx Grand Prix.

He was runner-up at the 2012 Classic Manx Grand Prix in the 350cc and 500cc races and was fourth in last year’s Senior Classic TT race.

A statement released by race organisers read: “Chris was an experienced competitor.

“The Manx Motor Cycle Club wishes to pass on their deepest sympathy to Chris’ family including his father Bill and his wife Jen and children.”

Many people took to social media to express their sadness.

One wrote: “Thoughts are with all family and friends.”

Another put it: “So very sad. Ride free Chris. God bless.

A similar message read: “Race in peace now Chris Swallow thank you for the memories my sincere condolences to all family and friends.

“You may have left this world now but your memory will live long in the hearts of many.”

The Ballaugh Bridge is the only hump-backed bridge remaining on the racecourse and has claimed a total of seven lives.

Since the event began in 1907 there have been 260 fatalities to competitors at the Isle of Man festival.

In June, Brit Daley Mathison was killed during the Superbike TT race.
