In Part 3 of our ‘Learn the Course’ series, we take a ride with Padgett’s Honda mounted Bruce Anstey during the 2011 Supersport Race, from Ramsey to the finish line . Each corner name is highlighted for reference, so as a newcomer you can create a mental map of the course.
There is nothing on Earth quite like the Isle of Man TT Races. No other motorcycle race is held on such a challenging track as the 37-mile plus Mountain Course with its seemingly never-ending series of bends, bumps, jumps, stone walls, manhole covers and telegraph poles.
The skill, bravery and concentration levels required are immense, with speeds approaching 200mph, and, while difficult to learn and even harder to come first, the rewards for winning on the world famous course are like no other.
So, if you’re a newcomer to the TT, one of the best things you can do before jumping in the hot seat and giving it a full twist of the wrist down Bray Hill, is to do your homework and programme the course layout into your mind.
