Isle of Man Steam Railway (July 2017)
After a year’s hiatus from YouTube, Amateur Basher Productions is proud to present the return of the ‘Isle of Man Steam Railway’ video series, this time chronicling the events of 2017 during the annual Manx Transport Festival.
The 13 mile Douglas to Port Erin route was marking the 50th anniversary of reopening under the ‘Lord Ailsa’ banner, with a short series of events including an exhibition at the Port Erin Railway Museum, and a photography evening at Douglas station.
Three of the ever gallant Beyer Peacock 2-4-0 tanks were kept busy throughout the week, working normal service trains and the Summer Thursday and Saturday ‘diner’ specials.
We join No.8 Fenella, No.10 G.H Wood, No.12 Hutchinson and No.13 Kissack for this video, as they go about their usual daily business.
Locations are Douglas, Port Soderick, Ballasalla, Castletown and Port Erin, plus a rare appearance from the occasionally used Ronaldsway Halt!
(Footnote – the track level photographs at Douglas station were taken under staff supervision, as part of the photography event on 28/07/2017)
