Isle of Man lockdown extended for a further four weeks – ITV News

The Isle of Man’s lockdown has been extended until midnight on May 15 2020.

A proclamation was signed this morning by the Lieutenant Governor, His Excellency Sir Richard Gozney.

The Isle of Man’s measures on social distancing are to continue until at least April 23, and the Island’s borders will follow the same measures.

The announcement was made by the Minister for Health and Social Care, David Ashford MHK, in Tynwald yesterday.

The decision, taken by the Council of Ministers, is based on clinical advice to reduce the spread of Covid-19 in the Isle of Man.

Minister for Health and Social Care, David Ashford MHK, said: “We are at a critical stage in our fight against this virus, and we must hold our nerve.

“Although we are seeing some positive results in our fight against COVID-19, the clinical advice we are receiving is that the measures on social distancing must stay in place.

“Whilst border restrictions remain, I am pleased that a controlled process of repatriation for Isle of Man residents begins today, following Tynwald’s approval of the regulations yesterday.”
