The quality of water in Manx rivers is improving, according to a government report.

Government statistics say 95 per cent of water courses on the Island have received the best chemical rating, with all 26 which are monitored getting a ranking of ‘very good’ or ‘good’ in the last three years.

Environment, Food & Agriculture Minister, Geoffrey Boot MHK, says looking after the water in rivers and beaches is ‘crucial’, adding the report ‘shows an encouraging trend in the right direction’.

The figures have been published in DEFA’s water quality monitoring results for 2018 – residents are being reminded to report any incidents of water pollution to the Environmental Protection Unit on 685 885.
