Stars Group punished by Dutch gambling regulator
Isle of Man-based e-gaming giant the Stars Group has been fined €400,000 by a Dutch gambling regulator, after it offered online gaming in a jurisdiction it didn’t have a license for.
Customers in the Netherlands were targeted by PokerStars, and encouraged to play on its Pokerstars.eu website, according to the regulator, Kansspelautoriteit.
The authority also found there was a contact form available in Dutch, a Dutch payment method used, and no mention that the country wasn’t permitted to use the website.
In the Netherlands, only Holland Casino is permitted to offer real-money poker games, at one of its physical locations.
This follows the news last week that the company was planning a raft of redundancies on the Isle of Man.
