Would be open to further workplace protections, if right for IoM

The health and social care minister says he would be interested in looking at legislation to ensure more workplace protections for women going through the menopause.

David Ashford’s comments come after a pair of MPs called for something to be done in the UK.

Labour’s Carolyn Harris would like to see a menopause policy in every workplace, just like there is a maternity one.

Conservative Rachel Maclean wants women to be able to get relief from their symptoms by being able to do things like take time off, or change shift patterns.

Mr Ashford says equality legislation already in place in the Isle of Man should help with things like this, but he’d be open to further laws being introduced, if they were deemed appropriate:
