Glenn Irwin focused on winning Isle of Man TT debut – The Irish News

CARRICKFERGUS man Glenn Irwin is certainly pinning his best shots at a successful Isle of Man TT debut in 2020 with the Honda Racing rider virtually making the Isle of Man his home in the run up to next year’s event.

Irwin will travel to Mona’s Isle for three days in every two weeks, to try and take in as many laps of the daunting Mountain circuit to give the county Antrim rider the best chance possible for his maiden visit.

After what can only be described as a topsy turvy 2019 season for Irwin, he now he believes in the right frame of mind and with the right team, to give him the best possible outcome at TT20.

Irwin who will join exciting road race ace Davey Todd in the official Honda Racing Team in the International road racing events, and who joins brother Andrew in the team for the British Superbike Championships, says that he can’t wait for the new season to kick off.

“I have made a few trips around the TT circuit already under the guidance of Richard Milky Quayle and John Barton with these two lads really helping me out. Their course knowledge is unreal,” he said.

“They seem to know every bump and hollow on the circuit and I can’t thank them enough.

“Peter Hickman has said he will take me a lap and no-one has ever went around the TT circuit faster than Hicky.

“It is may plan to get over to the Isle of Man for about three days every two weeks to try and gain as much track knowledge as is possible.”

Irwin will also have the North West 200 to take in prior to his first TT visit, where the Honda rider will be looking to take his fifth successive Superbike race win at the North Coast event.
