A firearms incident in the West of the Island under investigation is being described as an ‘isolated incident’.

Officers were mobilised at around 12.30pm on Saturday (August 24) after reports from a member of the public that gunshots were heard nearby on private land in Kirk Michael.

Whilst police continue to find out exactly what happened, authorities say they’ve been speaking to a man in his 50’s as part of the inquiry who was lawfully on land and has legally held firearms – adding the investigation is now looking into whether he was shooting in the appropriate place.

The constabulary has also confirmed no-one was injured during the incident.
