FC Isle of Man to play Guernsey FC in debut match | ITV News – ITV News

FC Isle of Man will be taking on Guernsey FC in the club’s first game since gaining official affiliation status.
The match will take place at the Bowl at 6:30pm on Saturday 15th August.
Members of the club are particularly pleased with their first choice of opponents as it was Guernsey FC who inspired FC Isle of Man to establish their own club.
Earlier in the week, the club unveiled its kit which was chosen by the supporters of the club through an online vote.
After a ten-day voting period it was announced the first option was the favourite choice, garnering 55% of the vote.
Paul Jones, Director of Football at FC Isle of Man has been pleased with progress.
The club have hit a quite a few milestones over the last few weeks and none are bigger than our very first game! Seeing an FC Isle of Man team playing in a kit chosen by the supporters will be a special moment for all those who have supported the club over the last few months and it is the final step in us taking an idea to reality.
The match has been made possible due to the air bridge that connects both the Isle of Man and Guernsey.
Both islands have no cases of coronavirus, meaning residents of both islands can fly unrestricted between the two crown dependencies.
Firstly, to be able to arrange a match during these strange times is a great opportunity for our players to represent the club and our community at such an early stage in our process. Secondly, I am really happy that the game is against Guernsey FC. They’ve competed at the level we’re entering and have been successful so it will be an eye opener to see how our players match up against them.
Guernsey FC are honoured to have been invited to play in FC Isle of Man’s inaugural game. It promises to be a special occasion and we can’t wait to be involved. All at Guernsey Football Club wish FC Isle of Man all the best as they begin their journey as a football club.
