Drivers running over birds multiple times, says charity – 3FM
Some drivers see a bird hit by a car, only to run over it again.
That’s according to the Manx Wild Bird Aid – as an injured baby seagull – ran over multiple times, was brought into its care this morning.
The charity says it happens far too often on the Isle of Man and is advising those who do accidentally hit a bird (or animal) to stop and contain them if it’s safe to do so.
However, they say it isn’t safe to stop – to contact the charity directly and one of its volunteers will go out and find the bird.
It adds if you are following a car that hits something, don’t run over it as well as it just adds to the animal’s suffering and may turn a minor injury into a lethal one.
The charity says it’s regularly brought injured birds who have been driven over by multiple drivers until one kind soul stops and helps them.
