Bank warns of ‘bogus boss’ scam – 3FM

Scammers are trying to target employees at companies by claiming to be members of senior management.

That’s according to Isle of Man Bank which says con artists are sending e-mails alleging to be a senior figure at a business such as a CEO, Director, or Chairman and will ask for money to purchase things such as medical supplies or cleaning equipment.

The bank adds the ‘e-mail spoofing’ is trying to catch out firms which have staff members now working remotely who may not be able to see their real bosses on a daily basis.

Officials are reminding residents that trusted organisations will never ask for financial details in this way and to remain vigilant.
