A necklace estimated to be around 4,000-years-old has been discovered on the Isle of Man.

The artefact was unearthed during an archaeological dig at Berk Farm near Kirk Michael as part of the Round Mounds of the Isle of Man Project.

The jewellery is made up of jet beads and is believed to have originated from Whitby in North Yorkshire.

The excavation – which is part of the ongoing initiative – is being led by Dr Rachel Crellin of the Univeristy of Leicester and Dr Chris Fowler of Newcastle University, and this year is being sponsored by Manx National Heritage.
