The Department of Health and Social Care says it has no record of any staff refusing to take part in abortion procedures.

A Freedom of Information request wanted to know how many conscientious objections staff had registered since the law changed in May last year.

Updated abortion laws approved by Tynwald contained an opt-out for staff after claims medics would be forced to take part in procedures they didn’t agree with.

However, the DHSC says no nursing or medical staff have refused to participate in terminations.
