New regulations for drones in the UK won’t directly affect the Isle of Man at this time.

The Civil Aviation Administration has confirmed Manx rules around the devices remain unchanged right now following new requirements for them in Britain coming into force this week.

Across the water, those who’re responsible for a drone or unmanned aircraft between 250 grammes and 20 kilograms must now register as an operator and complete an online test or face the possibility of a £1,000 fine.

Officials here are advising anyone who wants to see full details for drone use on Island can access the legislation at www.gov.im/drones.
