Backing would affiliate the new club with the Isle of Man FA
The 26 member clubs of the Isle of Man FA will vote later today whether or not to grant FC Isle of Man affiliation to Manx football’s governing body.
If given the backing, it would essentially tag the new club onto the Manx region meaning home games can be played on the Island.
FC IoM is hoping to enter the English non-league system and those behind the project say it will cost up to £300,000 per season to fund.
Reigning Premier League champions St Marys have announced they will support the move, as have Corinthians, Ramsey Youth Centre and Governors Athletic.
A squad of players would travel to the UK to contest games on a regular basis, as well as welcoming visiting teams to the Isle of Man, should the new club get the green light.
