The new counter on Douglas Promenade to record the amount of pedestrians and cyclists using the stretch cost £16,000.

That’s according to Infrastructure Minister, Ray Harmer MHK, when asked about the matter in Tynwald earlier this week.

Mr Harmer went on to say it was bought as part of the active travel project to collect data and also display other information such as temperature, weather forecasts and videos.

He added it’s current location is temporary, and once the scheme on the prom is complete it will be placed at the junction of Broadway.
