A new initiative is being set up to bring in new chefs to the Island’s hospitality trade.

The Manx Culinary Apprentice Scheme has been brought together by the Visit IOM Executive Agency and University College Isle of Man (UCM) together with hospitality owners.

Officials say the Island has a need to fill vacancies in the industry and bridge the skills gap for the future.

The scheme will start in September and will be available to all residents over the age of 16 and be based around workplace employment on a 12 month programme spending four days a week in the kitchens and one a week at UCM.
